This object must have been used or is still a star of reference for calibration of scientific instruments I think, what do you think?

Classify the object in the middle, which is a spiral galaxy. Ignore the top bright thing, which is a foreground star in our own galaxy which has overloaded the ccds.

Write to the GAMA project and ask them. It just looks like thousands of other artifacts. How many stars are in the Milky Way?
