Galaxy behind a star.

Actually, I'm just trying out the features here, and trying to sort out the workings of this site?
It seems to me this is a side view of a spiral in the distant background with a much closer star in the foreground? The glare lines and intensity seem to suggest a closer single source object, rather than a huddling of many bright objects at a greater distance.Posted

Hi DWatson and welcome to the Zoo
You are absolutely correct; The object in the centre (which you are supposed to classify) is indeed a disk or spiral galaxy seen edge on.
And the bright object (bottom left) is a foreground star from our galaxy.
Happy hunting !
