Magnitudes for easy stargazing -ISS and an Iridium flare

  • Budgieye by Budgieye moderator

I just spent several pleasant minutes this evening monitoring some very bright objects.

Venus - yep, bright still there, briliantly magnificent as it sets in the west mag -4

Jupiter - present, and high in the south mag -2

International Space Station ISS - I watched it until it disappeared over a thousand miles away.. Just about the same brightness as Jupiter.

Iridium flare at -7.8 it was dazzling bright for 5 seconds. times at http://heavens-above.com/

North star, dim star at mag 2, but at least it is constant.

Now back to some magnitude 30 galaxies in the Zoo
