sombrero-like, thin dust lanes, no stars, glowing gas, very young galaxy.
Posted
-
by williamaskew
why do you keep saying "no stars" this galaxy is solid stars with a very prominent dust lane. its old too!
Posted
-
by jlfqam
High resolution shows a clear dust lane. star clusters would be clearly visible, even individual stars, their light would make the gas glow
Posted
-
by jlfqam
At different wavelengths in sombrero with the hubble legacy archive viewer shows that stars are visible from IR to UV,
Posted

by jlfqam
Glowing gas appears intense from IR to red or green, barely reaching UV. This is common in HST imagery.

sorry, If you paste he link and select the red, green and blue bands, only the core and foreground stars are always visible,
the glow fadesPosted

I am not sure what you are trying to explain here. I'm with wtaskew here.
Posted

by jlfqam
True stars have a continuum spectrum from IR to UV, glowing gas fades towards the UV. This you can experiment in the Abell type clusters.

We do not need to go that far, try M-87, try next link

Notice the difference between the 800 and 300
At 300nm only jet and core are visible, the glowing gas disappears. Nearby stars keep onPosted

Stars inside the dust lanes produce a characteristic glow

Still not sure what you are trying to explain. Are you seriously saying that there are no stars in this galaxy ? Hint : you would be wrong !
