    Those are all stars from our galaxy, so no colision or merging.

    There are several objects here, probably at very different distances, but one looks like a fish egg with almost a ring structure for a core.

    The weird colours and shapes you're seein are all optical artifacts due to imaging issues.

    The most important thing to learn from this image is that all the objects are stars from our galaxy and that SDSS is not alwas right !
