What is the red star? Why is it so bright compared to other images

    Posted

  • Hawkey by Hawkey

It's brighter because its either brighter than the other stars or it is closer than the other stars. The red may be because of the camera.

The red object top right is indeed a foreground star from our galaxy. The colors, spikes and weird center are all optical artifacts.
