I marked these googly eyes as an artifact. Is this a defect in the lens?

No defect - the googly eyes are in fact stars from own own galaxy! Here is some more info: http://tinyurl.com/pbo34r2

    ¿Stars binarias?

hm.. the pixel pattern is so similar.. not convinced that it is not an artifact that doubled the image 😃

Don´t think it´s a binary system, they´re too close. In my opinion it´s a lens defect... the pixel pattern is the same in both ones

They are both foreground stars 😃 It is only by line of sight they look like they are connected. The pixelation is a artifact.

could this be a doubling due to a gravity lense? it seems very symmetric.

No gravitational lensing - they are both stars 😃
