I figured this was a star or artifact due to its strange colouring, but just wanted confirmation?
Would you say that the bright blue feature was an overlapping star closer to us or something interesting within the galaxy spiral?
This is a very striking galaxy but the image is cut off - it is in the centre of the frame but you can only see the top half! Any reason?
What could be causing the bluish blooms in the upper spiral arm? Could it be new star formation or just some kind of artifact?
Certainly looks like the two larger galaxies are colliding. The rest might just be overlaps (maybe foreground stars?) But still a great find
Amazing how such a disruptive collision can look so beautiful.
Lens artifact, but a funky image!
I am 90% sure the bright object to the right is an unassociated overlapping star, except it looks like the galaxy is distorted towards it.
Not sure if there are proper arms on this galaxy or some kind of more unusual distortion of the ends of the bar?
That is truly spectacular. Nice find!
I've a feeling the object directly below might also be involved?
Looks like this galaxy is enduring some heavy trauma with the right edge being spun off into the region directly above it.
Cool. Will do!
Indeed, but they look so clean and interesting compared to some images it seemed a shame not to draw attention to them!
Something is going on at the bottom edge of this galaxy. Looks like some of the galaxy's mass is being drawn to a smaller darker object?
I classified the galaxy in the bottom centre but there are at least 2 other fine looking galaxies in the image.
Looks like a galaxy collision.....
#faint purple rings?
There seem to be a number or irregular faint thin purple rings incorporated in the disk of this galaxy - some kind of lens artifact?
Would you say this was a disc seen from above or a spherical galaxy with a nucleus? I went with a disc.
nucleus
Really amazing pattern - nice find! Can't quite believe the scale involved, can you?
That makes a lot more sense, thanks! Still a novice at this.
Striking red colour, strange wide scarlet belt through the centre of the galaxy image.
What is going on at the bottom edge of this galaxy? Is this a merger or just an overlapping but physically separate object?
Hi.Not just the bright objects above and below, but invert the image and there seems to be a very faint trace to the object at the very top.
