Core is long but "points' in different direction than rest of galaxy

This very much looks like a spiral very nearly on edge with some "internal" dust lanes.

Beautiful and intriging merger
There are two galaxies here and one might be a spiral. Cannot tell if they are really close or whether one is farther from us.
This has a large bright red "spot" on the lower left outer edge.
